Power BI is Microsoft's business analytics platform. It brings Excel, SQL, CRM and dozens of other sources into one data model and turns it into interactive reports. It is the standard BI tool in companies on Microsoft 365.

What is Power BI?

Work in Power BI has three layers: cleaning data with Power Query, relationships between tables in the data model, and metrics calculated with DAX. Reports are shared with the team in the Power BI Service and refresh on a schedule.

For marketing its strength is working in the same model as finance and sales data: you can join ad spend with real revenue and with the customer in the CRM. It is more complex than Data Studio, but more powerful.

Is Power BI free?

Power BI Desktop is free. Sharing reports with a team needs user licences.

Data Studio or Power BI?

Data Studio if your sources are mostly Google and speed matters. Power BI if you have a complex data model and the Microsoft ecosystem.

How do I connect GA4 data?

The most reliable way is to export GA4 to BigQuery and connect Power BI to BigQuery.
